We believe that my great grandfather George TOWNSEND who was KIA in Colesburg 1 Jan 1900 in the Boer war was the 2nd son of William and Sarah A. TOWNSEND. They were living in this village in house 6, during the 1991 census. William was a carter and their children were Alfred 19, George 18, Sara A. aged 14,Edith aged 10, Lucy aged 6, William aged 4 and John aged 14 months. George was posted via the Royal Berkshires 2nd Battalion to Queenstown, Eastern Cape. He married Susan Cholwich and his son, George Kew TOWNSEND was born 28 days after his death.

Would like to obtain copies of Wychwoods History Journal. The journal of the Wychwoods Local History. Booklet has been produced every year since 1985. Specific copies required are Issues 2, Issue 7(1992) Issue 8 (1993) and Issue 9 pertaining to my ancestors The Groves family of Milton Cotswold Stonesmasons for 400 years. If there are any other issues which feature my ancestors would be greatly appreciated. I have emailed various sites with no reply. Can anyone help me with these journals. Thanks Sue

Researching the Rathbone family who were living in Milton-under-Wychwood in the mid 1800's. Charles Henry Rathbone was born in 1848 and was a Farm labourer. He married Annie nee Woodward and had 11 children all born in the village. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
