BEMANs Brooks Hailes Minchin et al
I have been researching my BEMAN lines for a number of years now and all are descended from James Beman & Mary Goodwin who appeared in Kingham in 1746, having married in Salford. Names in my BEMAN tree relevant to Kingham & nearby villages include: GOODWIN, HAILES, BROOKS, COOK, WILLIAMS, HUNT, PRESCOT, CLEMANS, RUSSELL, DAVIS, GRAY, SHELTON, MINCHIN, MASON, BENNETT, WELLS, TAYLOR, JOYNES, WHEATLEY, FRANCES, RICHARDSON, and others! Bemans were in many Cotswold villages (Kingham, Adlestrop, Broadwell, Moreton, Chastleton, Sherborne...) from 1720's to 1890's at least, and maybe earlier ancestors before then & later descendants still there. Many Bemans went to London, (Middlesex areas) Edmonton, City, East End, Piccadilly, Hackney, Islington, Greenford.

red mail KEMPSTER John son of Jordan and Margaret baptised Kingham 29 Sept 1785
Whilst the history from John b.1785, his son John b.1811 and his son John b.1840 has been confirmed during their residency in Lambeth during the period 1785-1900 the connection with Oxfordshire by Jordan Kempster requires further research. The brotherof John b.1811 was William Jordan Kempster(confirmed) and there is a further John b.1725 married to a Mary Jordan in Burford in 1758(further substantiation required). Connection with Christopher Kempster d.1715 of Burford cannot be ruled out. Any offers of assistance greatfully received.
