Cross hands hill/Salford hill Oxfordshiree tragic accident 1940
My mothers half sister died in a tragic motor accident on 19/10/1940. Does anyone have any old local news paper reports or any other information on this. She was a passenger in the car. It has occurred to me this might also be known as Salford hill after the small village at the base. Many thanks for reading this

John Cudd baptised 3 May 1747 at Adlestrop, Glos. Parents Edward & Mary. He married Sarah. I cannot trace the date/place of the marriage or Sarah's maiden name. I cannot find the date and place of his marriage, however all his children were baptised in Adlestrop, Gloucestershire. I also cannot find the date of his death. can any-one please look up the death of Frederick Tucker. (in the local records office.) Born 1884 gravesend kent. died 1885 oct nov dec. chipping norton oxfordshire. They are both probably connected. Not sure if this is a Tucker we need. The cert. cost so much each time and some-times are wrong. W HAVE OUR FREDERICK TUCKER BORN 1892. THIS WAS A SECOND MARRIAGE. I have the birth cer. I think, possibly he was named after the 1st Frederick on the 1st marriage. The father William Joseph Tucker a plasterer, was born in Gravesend Kent, as was this 1st Frederick Tucker. and then he went to Northamptonshire/Oxfordshire and re-married in 1892. to Margaret (Ferry 2nd marriage) Her maiden name was Neal, our Fredericks mother. I have an old photograph probably dating around 1902 of a gentleman called Stayte who was once Mayor of Chipping Norton. Does anyone know anything about this gentleman or his family, and when exactly he was Mayor? My grandmother's third name was Stayt, so I assume there must be a family connection, but I have yet to discover what it is.

My great grandfather Edmund WHITE (b.1827)& wife Avis settled in Chipping Norton in the early 1860s. In the 1851 census and 1861 census he was Manager of the Gas Works. In 1881 census he was listed as a "Dealer" (presumably a retail outlet. Their children were: AVIS (m.James Moss), RICHARD JAMES (m.Henrietta OWEN of Chipping Norton), AMELIA, HARRY, MARIA (m.Walter J. Stockford of Chipping Norton), GEORGE (my Grandfather m. Alice Hoverd of chipping norton), CHARLES EDMUND, THOMAS WILLIAM. Any local information on this family, hopefully including descendents still there, would be very much appreciated.

I am looking for the family of Thomas Padley, a builder, born 1781 and married to Elizabeth Purser; their son, Thomas, born 1818, was a glass cutter and plasterer who married Caroline Jeffs (Juffes) from Warwickshire. Thomas Jr. was born in Chipping Norton. I have found him in the 1841 census living with his wife Caroline and an older woman named Alice Padley. I have the name and profession of his father from an Australian death certificate (he emigrated in 1852). Anyone come across any Padleys from this area?

Iam researching the Heath family tree in Gloucester but have come to a block in 1642. Thomas Heath was reporeted as " late of Chipping Norton" at that point and my father believes he came to the town from Gloucester to work with the Hugenot Silk Merchants, the Onions. Anne (b 1684), daughter of George Hastings of Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, by Elizabeth Kynvin of London, married Hugh Hickman (d 1722) of Ballyket in Ireland, and had a son, Thomas of Brickhill, co Clare, and a daughter Mary (d 1760), who married Sir Edward O'Brien, Bt (1705-65). I'm trying to find a connection, if there is one, between George Hastings and the Hastings family of Daylesford, one of whose members was Warren Hastings (1732-1818), Governor General of India.

John Guy m Elizabeth Ruck 1851 at Chipping Norton.They had at least 10 children.My grandfather was their son John he married Eliza Bennett in 1880. Another son Thomas also stayed in the Chipping Norton area,his son Joseph had a shop in Worcester road in the 1950s. I believe another son William moved to the Hersham area of Surrey . I am hoping to find anyone who may know of my son's 2xgr grandfather Daniel G/JEE born 1842 at Chipping Norton. He was working as a Groom at Barton House in 1861. By 1881 he had marries Mary ? of Little Crompton ant they were living in London where Daniel was a Coachman. He may have moved to the Yeovil area of Somerset in later life as his eldest son, Edward was a publican there. Any clue would be gratefully recieved.

He married Frances Walker of Chipping Norton 25/07/1805.
