red mail Memoirs of Louey Ross/Euphemia Fell re Caversham Grove
I am searching the family history of David FELL (my ggg grandfather) who was County Sherriff of Oxfordshire in 1790 and lived at Caversham Grove. With his wife Catherine GARDINER, he had a family of 8 children while living at the Grove, the oldest of whom was Euphemia who married a Mr EA ROSS. This couple had three children that I know of: Ellen, GAE ROSS (male) and Louey (female). GAE ROSS and his wife (Mrs ROSS) subsequently became residents of Christchurch New Zealand, where my grandfather, Maurice Anthony Hunter FELL, made their acquaintance. Mrs ROSS had in her possession the "Memoirs of Louey ROSS", her husband's sister's memoir, from which my g'father transcribed a beautiful description of FELL family life at Caversham Grove from the time of David FELL's marriage to Catherine GARDINER to their departure from the Grove sometime in the first half of the 1800s. I am interested in locating this Memoir and any of the ROSS FELL GARDINER family. I live in NZ.
red mail William G Alban
This ancestor took his own life in Caversham, at 3 Harrogate St on 3 Dec 1906 at the age of 46. There was an inquest carried out by Henry Dixon, Coroner for South Oxon. I am interested to read the coronor's report, most probably only available as reported in the newspaper of the day. Does anyone know what paper I should be looking for? I live in Australia so any help you can give regarding access to a report is most appreciated. I have access to digitised 19th century papers, but not to early 20th century.
