red mail Wilson marriage. Worksop area. Further info
Thanks to all those who let me know about Mary SHIRLEY as a possible bride. She has been discounted as her children are wrong. Likewise with Mary BLOWER & Mary BINGHAM - checked by Nottingham Archives. Mary TOMLINSON discounted by Derbyshire Records Office. Mary THOMPSON came from Glapwell. Mary DYCH/E married a John Wilson in Breaston. She had a daughter Ann before her marriage & I think Breaston is a bit far south to be our girl. This still leaves Mary MARSHALL as a possibility. She & a John Wilson married 18 May 1818 in Dronfield, Derby, which would mean Henry was born before they married. Not impossible.

John Wilson, 1797 - 1833, son of John Wilson & Sarah Straw/Struan, had as wife a Mary. From census records she was born c1791 in Barlbro/Belper. John & Mary must have married (if in fact they did!) round 1816 & they had 10 children from 1817 onwards. Henry, Eligh, Sarah, Joseph, Mary, Elizabeth, Harriet, Caroline & twins Emma & Julia in 1833. All efforts to find this Mary have failed. Any ideas anyone?? Descendants here in New Zealand are very frustrated!
