red mail John Horsley - Basket Maker
Does anyone have HORSLEY BASKETMAKERS in their ancestry? My five times Great Grandfather John Horsley was born, in c.1753 and I have reason to believe that he may have been born in Shilbottle. This ray of hope was taken many years ago from IGI records and was not from a submitter so can be judged as being fairly accurate. He married MARY LAMBERT of BOLTON WESTMORLAND in 1777 and settled there. Almost all his sons followed in his footsteps and also were basketmakers. Thank You Audrey

Thomas Gibson b c1815 Shilbottle. Married Mary Ann Guthrie b c1815 Newcastle at Shilbottle 1834. His Parents are shown as Thomas Gibson and Margaret. The 1841 Census of Shilbottle shows only one family of Gibsons Thomas and Jane. Jane is much younger than Thomas so is this a second marriage? They have a son Taylor Gibson. This name is repeated through several generations in my research. Is there a link between Thomas and Jane and Thomas b c1815? Help would be appreciated.
