My great great grandfather, Atkinson Henderson, died in the Union Workhouse, Ponteland on 6 July 1883. I think he was only there for a short period of time, probably because he was unable to work due to illness in the period immediately preceding his death. I would be grateful for any information relating to him, or to workhouse records at that time.

Could anyone help? I was born in 1940 in Back Cheviot View, Ponteland. This address now appears to have disappeared. I know it was close to the RAF Airfield. Does anyone remember where it was, or have a map which shows it? Which would have been the nearest hospital? Many Thanks

David Barnes served in the RNVR and died Sept 1918 near Arras. Both David and his father are listed in the 1911 census as workers at Prestwick Colliery but living at Bell Villas in Ponteland, about a mile away. He is named on the Ponteland War Memorial. He is also listed on the war memorial at St Mary's at Beaumont on the Solway Firth. Why? What is the connection?

My late father Kenneth Tarrant (born May 14th 1923) was bought up in one of the Cottage Homes in Ponteland. he attended the Methodist church there also. His parents were Ada Evans who died soon after my father was born. She was married to Walter Tarrant. I cannot get any further with tracing siblings, cousins etc so any information would be gratefully received.
