red mail Goodbarn Family
Searching for Goodbarn Family around 1800 when John Goodbarn married Jane Hall of Cowgate Mill and opened a Breeches and Glove maker shop in High Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Hi John, My tree is on Ancestry and a lot of facts on other trees are actually taken from my tree but, I'm not certain about Thomas Goodbarn 1750 to 1840 being the right one as he seems to have lived and died in Lincolnshire with no record of him in Scarborough. His son John who I am certain is correct was born in Scarborough in 1783 opening his shop in Newcastle around 1805.So, I am searching for his parents who may have come from Lincolnshire via Scarborough, and Jane's parents Matthew and ? who were from Newcastle Upon Tyne. Also for Carol ? who may remember playing with a little boy who visited his auntie M in Henry St. All Saints in the 1950s. Carol moved to Fenham.

John Henry Mason Hawkes (the eldest) is my direct line (great great grandfather) and married in Adelaide South Australia, to Frances Sarah Ann Symonds (from Flagon Rd Deptford London), had four children (the eldest was my great grandfather James Symonds Hawkes who married in Adelaide South Australia to Jane Codling. Newcastle upon Tyne/Middlesbrough
Seeking any information on William Strike born in Redcar 13/09/1896. William was something of a wanderer and had joined the Army serving under an assumed name. He had returned to his fathers home in Middlesbrough in early 1930 but left shortly afterwards never to be seen nor heard from by any of his family again. Williams parents were William and Maryann Strike nee Pattison he was born in Redcar on 13/09/1896. William was my Grandmothers ( Edith) younger brother. There were other siblings Hannah, James, Sarah, and Elizabeth. It would be nice to know what happened to him, it was thought that he had eventually settled in Newcastle, married and had a family. If anyone has any info to share that might help me to solve a family mystery I would be very happy to hear from them. Thanks.

red mail Ellen Bruce (nee Hazel)
Ellen Hazel is my great aunt who was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1896. I never knew of her existance until I found her listed on the 1901 census. Nobody in the family ever spoke about her, so I assumed she had died in infancy, then I found she was also entered on 1911 census. I found a marriage entry for St Anns, Newcastle for 1916 to a William Richardson Bruce. I then discovered they had four children between 1919 and 1928. There the trail ended. I could not find a death entry. However, recently I have been in contact with a granddaughter of Ellen. She explained that her mother, Ellen's daughter was brought up by an aunt because Ellen had been admitted to a mental hospital. In an effort to protect her, the family told Ellen's daughter that her mother had died, but, in 1951, they told her her the truth about her mother because Ellen had really died. I sent for the only death certificate which seemed to match, but it turned out not to be her. I presume that patients who die in a mental hospital would have a death certificate issued? Is it possible she was sent to a hospital elsewhere in the country? Can anyone help? This has driven me mad for six years now.

red mail Frames living in Newcastle upon Tyne
My connection to the Frame family is through my mother May Robson Frame, born 1913 in Gosforth, Castle Ward. I have traced the family ancestry back to 1601 to Whickham, County Durham. Some family members moved from Wickham to Tynemouth then Gateshead and eventually settled in Newcastle upon Tyne in the 1800s. That century is well documented but I have only sparse records for the 1900s. red mail Watson Family of Newcastle
I was just told by my mum that I had a 4 x great grandfather from Newcastle, so I'm curios if it is possible to track his family down. His name was Benjamin Watson and he was born 1796, when he was about 25 he went to Hamburg, Germany, probably as an English teacher of a trader's family, but that's just an assumption. In Hamburg he met his future wife and they had several children... one of them, Amanda, married a guy with the surname Dankers, whose offspring went on to marry a Burmester which in turn brought forth my grandfather, Otto Burmester. If anyone knows anything about a Watson family of Newcastle in the 1700s it would be great if you could tell me about it. It's sad that I don't know more, e.g. if he had brothers or sisters, but all the information we've got about the family stems from Amanda Dankers diaries and is not very elaborate... Any help will be appreciated!
