Does anyone know anything about the Waldie family from Morpeth? Edmund Waldie (1846-1905) was a master watchmaker. Did he have a shop, or do any of his watches still exist? His daughter, Margaret Josephine Chater Waldie was my Great Grandmother who died two years after the birth of my Grandfather. I would also like to know where Chater comes from, as Edmund's wife was Mary Ann Coultard (I think)

My late father, Basil Jobson, traced my mother's side (Margaret Robson) back to Thomas Robson b.1779 Newcastle All Saints who married Esther Turnbull on 29 Mar 1802 in Tynemouth. Thomas also had a sister Hannah b. 24 Dec 1780. They were the children of John Robson, occupation Weaver. Would be grateful for any information re John Robson, birth, marriage, death to take this line back further. Thomas and Esther had John b.1873, William b.1804 m Elizabeth, Thomas b1806, Matthew b.1813 (tailor) who married Mary Ann Kendall. They had William Robson (tailor)b.1860 m. My maternal g.mother's maternal g.mother was Eliza Jane Ellis .She and her parents were born in Ireland but came over and settled in Morpeth about 1846.I have census records from 1851 onwards.Her dad was Joseph Ellis b.1815/1816 & her mam was Jane (McTear)b.1818/1819.They had 3 children born in Ireland and another 4 in Morpeth.None of the censuses say where in Ireland they were from (I've checked other Irish families in the area as well).Has anyone got any idea how I can track them down across the water??

William (b 1919), James (b 1921), and Robert (b 1922) were all born in Morpeth with mother maiden name BOTTOMS and father name of LOGAN. Catherine (b 1923) was their sister. She married Leslie MARKWELL, his family came from Holy Island. The mother or Willie, Jimmy, Bobby, and Cathy may have been named Jane. She died in childbirth around 1926/27 with a daughter Doreen. Doreen may have been taken away to be raised by relatives. I would like more information on both the Logan family and especially the Bottoms family. Leslie and Cathy lived in Bedlington where three of their children were born, then they moved to Chicago, USA in 1950. Thank you.

I cannot find the families or details for the mother and father of my Great Grandfather George Young Parkinson born 1855 in Bedlington, Morpeth. I have his mother as Elizabeth Parkinson b1827 in Rothbury and there was an older brother James born 1849. George Young married 3 times. Isabella Piercy in 1875 but she died in 1876. Sarah Conlon (aka Conlonley) m 1892 d1901. Sarah and George had 4 children one of which was my Grandfather George b1897. Frances Turnbull (widow) m1909. There is no fathers name on George Young's birth certificate or maiden name for Elizabeth. On 2 of George Young's marriage certificates his father is named as Robert Young Parkinson, miner. This is all the information I have on him as I cannot find him on any Census, birth, marriage or death record. Neither can I trace Elizabeth Parkinson before the 1851 census when she was living with her son James aged 2 and a lodger named James McGuire aged 40. All information gratefully received!

I am trying to trace George Wood's family. His parents may have been Henry Wood and Ann Thornton, who were married Aug 24, 1783 in Netherwitton. George may have been born Sept. 25 1791 in Stamfordham. His siblings: Ann, Henry,Isabel and Mary. If this the same George Wood, he married Mary Gibb July 2, 1824 in Farnham, Alwynton Northcumberland. Mary was born July 15, 1801 in Harbottle Northcumberland. George was overseer to Wm. Readhead, of Ryehill, Rothbury. George, Mary and six children emmigrated to Ont. Canada in 1835.

I am searching for a Robert Snowdon, believed born 1864, the first mention of him that is official is on his marriage certificate where he gives his age as 21 and his father as Thomas Snowdon, Police Constable, deceased. The next mention is the 1891 census when he gives his age as 26 and his birthplace as Scotswood Northumberland. However, the only Robert Snowdon I can find is one born to an Ann Snowdon who is living in Morpeth Workhouse. OK I can accept that he lied on the previously mentioned certificate and census, but where is he in the time between birth and marriage? He is later shown as having added Dalking to his name, and my mother remembers him as Robert Dalking Snowdon. Anyone any ideas?
