red mail DOROTHY HARRISON
Dorothy's christening 21 Oct 1827, Gosforth, Northumberland, father Ralph HARRISON, mother Ellen. At 1841 Census she's living with Ralph and his wife Jane, age 14. I have found a marriage for Ralph and Jane (LEONARD) 9 Dec 1826, no marriage to an Ellen, is this a mistake, or did Ellen die in childbirth, as an unmarried mother? I think I will need to see the original entry if possible, can anyone tell me where this might be held. Many thanks Joan

red mail Annie White
Here's a long shot! In the late 50s we were visited each summer by Auntie and Annie. Both named Annie White, they lived at Gosforth Newcastle. The older was probably related to my gmother Mary Anne Miller (nee Birnie), the younger was a ?lecturer at Durham University and later a schools inspector. She died in about 1962. That's all I know but would love to hear from anyone for whom it rings bells.

Pearson and Wright of Gosforth Northumberland
I am trying to trace the families of my greatgrandparents Robert Wright and Sarah Wright, born Pearson. They were born in 1868 in Newcastle upon Tyne. Robert lived with his parents William and Jane until his marriage and worked as a Stone Quarryman in Cowgate. He married Sarah Pearson in 1896 and they lived in Henry Street Gosforth. Robert's father William lived at the same address. Sarah Pearson's father was called Thomas Pearson and he was a fitter, his family are thought to have had something to do with the railways, but I have no information about him or any of his family including Sarah's mother. Robert and Sarah had at least six children, Margaret, Catherine, Jane, William, Thomas and Ivy Annie (known as Nancy). Sarah Pearson Wright's mother may possibly have been called Catherine. My great grandfather Robert Wright is thought to have had the nickname "Dobbin" due to an incident with a horse and cart at the Quarry where he worked.

red mail Dixon Grocer in Gosforth in 1890s
Magaret Alder Dixon was the daughter of John Dixon. She married James Richard Jackman at S Aidan's church, Benwell in 1894 from 7 Alexander Street (details on copy of marriage register entry). Father given as John Dixon. Earlier info. has John as living with his family in Gosforth possibly S George's parish. But, according to my father, who was Margaret Alder D.'s son, his maternal grandfather was an engine driver - possibly with a colliery - there is a family connection with Heworth Colliery in Co. Durham, & living in Hanover Square, Elswick in the 1890s. Again, according to my father & supported by one census record, John Dixon's wife was Ellen. My father also has him living at one point at Norfolk Road, when he was an insurance agent. Can anyone shed light on this John Dixon? There is an earlier census record of a young John Dixon - a grocer's assistant, living with his mother who is described as owing a provisions shop. Seems a likely match with 'my' John D. Any help appreciated. Margaret J. researching Byker, Elswick & Great Yarmouth families Jackman, Hall & Dixon.
