red mail Bruce family
I am looking for family members of Doris Bruce who had a father called James who was a miner. I believe there were several children, possibly from different marriages. She was my mother who died when I was 9..think she was born 1921 and started work at 13. I heard stories that one brother died in a submarine and had a half sister called Bella. I visited my grandad Bruce (James) in a terraced house as a toddler..there was a hill nearby with an old pit pony in it..I presumne. Anybody know anything?

My 2xgreat grandfather George Mills stated on his marriage certificate that he was born in Bedlington c1824 and that his parents were William Mills and Ellen Bell. I haven't been able to find a baptism for George or William and Ellen's marriage. The closest marriage I've found was 20 years before George's birth - William Mills and Eleanor Barnes in 1804 at St Cuthberts. If anyone has a connection to the Mills' family or has any suggestion how to find more about the family I would appreciate it. George Mills died in Portland Victoria, Australia in 1903. Leigh

They had a daughter in 1922 called Annie (my Grandmother) and lived Bedlington at the time of my grandmothers birth in a place called Coach Road (which isn't there anymore).
