Looking for any information regarding ELIZABETH HAYNES born abt 1813 in NEWNHAM, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. She married JOSEPH CLARKE in WELTON, NORTHANTS in 1830 and is thought to be the daughter of the Miller of NEWNHAM MILL, WILLIAM HAYNES. There also appears to be a SHAKESPEARE connection throuh her mother, MARY SHAKESPEARE, of BADBY, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. Any information on any of the above would be greatly appreciated.
red mail Major - Newnham, Northamtonshire
I'm amazed to see that other people are researching the surname 'Major' in Newnham, it appears to go along way back also! I am researching my great, great Grandfather 'William Major' born around 1864 in Newnham, Northamptonshire. His Father (whom I am also trying to find information on) was called Thomas Major and I suspect he was born around 1934 also in Newnham. I have found records for them both in the 1871 Census living with 'Ann Osbourne' who I guess is Thomas's sister at '26 Cottage?'. 1881 Census shows William Major living at 94 Weedon Road with 'William Osbourne' (who I guess was Ann's husband). So I don't know what happened to Thomas or Ann? If anyone is researching the same family or have any information regarding them or where I can possibly look it would be greatly appreciated! Kind Regards, Francesca.
