George COOK b:1824 (abt)
I am trying to trace any informtation about a George COOK, born about 1824. I think he may have been born in Mears Ashby (acc. to 1851 census), though most other census entries from him are cryptic at best, and illegible at worst. He lived variously in London, at Stratford (West Ham), Mile End Old Town (Stepney), Greenwich and Tottenham Court. He married a Mary CROSBIE at St Martin in the Fields in 1846, and became an Omnibus Conductor/Cabman/Carriage Driver/Cab Driver. He died after the 1891 census, but before the 1891 (Mary is a widow in 1981 census). I only know of one daughter, Charlotte. She married a David MOORE or MOON, and had two children, Arthur and G(eorge?). A bit sketchy, but fingers crossed!
Would like to find out about Jack Collins who may have been a farmer as I remember when I was a child visiting him with my aunt and his granddaughter Judy climbing off a tractor in a field close to where he lived. It would be in the late 1940s -1950s.
