John Wyatt, born in Westcote Barton , Oxfordshire moved to Deanshanger in about 1835. Five of his children, George, John, Caroline, Willaim and Thomas, were born in the village and their descendants have since moved on. I have a fair amont of information about the family which I am willing to share and I am interested in hearing from anyone who is descended from John. The parts of the family I know least about and would like to learn more of are anyone related to Caroline, Thomas or George.
red mail Deanshanger early 1800's
William Harris, a Boot and Shoemaker, indicated on the 1851 census that his place of birth was Deanshanger, Northamptonshire. He was 34 at the time which would place his DOB around 1817.At the time of the census William was living in Hornsey, Middlesex with his wife Catherine and 3 children, Elisabeth 8, William 5 and Louisa 4. I cannot locate any records online that confirm his date of birth or his father or mothers or of his marriage details. He was my great-great grandfather, his son William Hamilton Harris immigrated to New Zealand. William Hamilton told his children that his family were Jews who had lived on the border of Germany and Poland and had decided to move to England as it was becoming unsafe for Jews in Europe. They had subsequently changed their surname to Harris when they settled in England.
