red mail Claridge, Josiah (Joseph)
On the 1851 census for Shidas Lane, Olbury, Worcestershire was a family headed by a Hannah ASTON, aged 49 a widow and shopkeeper, her children were, Mary 15, Sarah 14, Maria 11 and William Aston aged 9 years. Also living at this address was a JOSEPH CLARIDGE aged 21 years unmarried lodger, a labourer at brickworks. He was born at BADBY, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. This Joseph Claridge is thought to be Josiah Claridge, son of Richard and Mary? A JOSIAH CLARIDGE married HANNAH ASTON in the March quarter of 1856 in Dudley, Staffordshire. Hannah CLARIDGE died June quarter 1858, West Bromwich, Staffordshire. There is no sign of a Josiah or Joseph CLARIDGE in the UK after this date on the census's or B.M.D. There is a Josiah Clariidge of about the same age that went to New Zealand in 1856 on a passenger ship, he died in 1905, but I think he was originally born in London? Has anyone come acoss this Joseph or Josiah CLARIDGE, please let me know.
