red mail Mason Family - (Old Catton - Norfolk)
My Great Grandfather, William Mason 1843-1906, was born and lived in this village and the surrounding areas. He married Susan Walker 1854 and after her early death in 1891 came to London and started another family which included my Grandfather William Mason Dade 1902-1984. William 1843, left his three daughters Alice, Eliza and Susan Mason with his sister-in-law Sarah Barker nee Walker. In the 1901 Census they are living at 17 Rose Yard Norwich with John Barker as the head of the family. There was another daughter called Anna/Ann/Hannah born 1877 who I believe married a Robert Hipper 1874 from Norwich, but I cannot be sure of this. William Mason 1874, son of William and Susan, married and came to London where in 1901 he was living in Fulham in London, his occupation that of a Police Officer. Their other son Albert 1889 is shown in the 1901 census, with his father as Maron and not Mason. I do not know what happened to Albert after 1901. Although I have managed, over the years, to get back quite a long way regarding the Mason family. I would be interested to know what became of William and Susan's children. Regards
red mail Drew family of Norfolk - (Old Catton - Norfolk)
I can get back a long way with all branches of my family and my husband's, with the frustrating exception of my paternal grandmother - Emma Louise Drew, b. 1858 in or around Norwich. I have got a copy of her birth certificate, and that of her brother William, b.1852, and it seems that they were both illegitimate. Their mother was Charlotte Drew, b.1819, and she was the oldest of what seems to have been a respectable set of siblings - Daniel, William, Henry, Susannah, Benjamin - with jobs such as stonemason, shoemaker, grocer, upholsterer etc. Her father was Daniel Drew, 'Male Servant', born in Old Catton in c.1790, and her mother Susannah Bowen, 'Upholstress', born at about the same time in Rackheath. I am desperate to know more about Emma Louise (my father was her last child and she died years before I was born). It seems odd to me that her mother had two illegitimate children, born six years apart, when she was in her thirties - not exactly a silly young girl. The first child, William, was born in Marylebone Workhouse, but Charlotte was back in Norfolk by the time Emma Louise was born. I would love to know who her father was, and whether her brother had the same father, but I am having no luck with illegitimacy records - in fact I have come up against the proverbial stone wall. Has anyone any ideas?

James Hardingham 1802 - (Plumstead - Norfolk)
I'm looking for help researching my 3x great grandfathers parents. James Hardingham was born in Weybourne in 1802 son of James and Ann Hardingham. I can find no siblings for him, but I think his parents may be James and Ann (nee Dagless). They married in Edgefield in 1800. I think this was his second marriage and he may have been married to an Ann Keymer before this. They married in Heydon in 1775 and may have moved to Plumstead and then Southrepps. Unfortunately i know little of the Norfolk parish geography to know whether these places are close to each other and whether both marriages are linked to the same James Hardingham. It would appear from the Heydon marriage that James orginates from Wood Dalling, but i can not find a baptism record. Any help would be really appreciated
