red mail Catchpole family in the Workhouse
Does anyone know of the family of James Catchpole prior to his marriage to Emma Ramsden in 1872. I do know he was in lodgings in Rawmarsh, 1861 & 1871. He was born 1845 in Pulham, Norfolk. According to the 1851 census he was living, at the age of 6 and as a pauper, at Henstead Union Workhouse. Also living in the workhouse at that time - amongst 95 paupers- were John Catchpole,11, born in Shelton, George Catchpole,13, born Pulham St Mary's and Charles Catchpole, 6 months, born in the workhouse - all are recorded as paupers. There was no mention of any adult by the name of Catchpole. Were these boys siblings? Where was there mother? Who were there parents? Many thanks for any info.
