red mail Margaret Jones - (Castleton - Monmouthshire)
I am looking for details of my gt grandmother Margaret Rickards nee Jones. On the 1881 census her birth place is given as Marshfield which is the Parish for Castleton Mon. My gt grandfather was George Rickards. They had two children George and Artemas (my grandfather) George was a tailor and draper and his business was in Kelly's Directory. When checking details of where they lived their address is given as next to the Angel Inn in Castleton and also there was a Mrs Jones, a grocer, who also lived next to the Angel Inn. I just wondered if Margaret was her daughter. George had been widowed and was the father of two small children Mary and Henry when he married Margaret. Also on one of the census his brother-in law John Jones is an apprentice tailor and living with them. Mary Rickards married a John Jones and they had a son Clarence Emlyn. I thought that maybe her John Jones could possibly have been Margaret's brother.

John (Jno) RANDALL b.1869 Cefn Wales - (Cefn - Monmouthshire)

Although she was born in Wales, her family was originally from Midsomer Norton, Somerset, England. On the US 1900 census his father and mother are listed as to have been born in England/Wales, respectively. However, on the 1871 Wales Census, the parents of Jno Randall were borth in Cork, Ireland. Therefore, I'm not sure if this is in any way the correct family. ANY John Randall information would be greatly appreciated. This John Randall DID visit Wales (Tredegar) in 1905 as I have a postcard he sent to his wife, Louisa, from there. He returned from Liverpool to NY on the Cedric (White Star Line)on August 4, arriving in NY on August 12.

However, on the 1871 Wales Census, the father and mother of John Randall were born in Cadoxton and Llangwicke, Glamorgan, Wales, respectively. red mail Walker, William Gwilliam - (Llandenni - Monmouthshire)
This is a long shot. In a transcript of the family bible, he is shown as having been born on 2 August 1785 at 'Berllanvedu'(farm or district - obviously a made up name - look at the French in it! or is it?),at Llandering (Town? spelling is not correct, as the handwriting is dreadful and I am trained in deciphering old handwriting!) in Monmouthshire. I have lots of in depth material about them in Australia, but have often wondered what they were doing in France in 1816. He was not in the army. Any relatives still out there in Wales? I will send you a family tree of the Walker-Fletchers in Australia, since 1825. They were well off it appears, as they had chartered the Admiral Cockburn and carried stock and more than £500 as they received a land grant as soon as they got to Tasmania. My daughter and I would love to know more about him and the other family members - another William Walker d. 1793, Elizabeth Walker d. 1797, Mary Walker d. 1802, Miles Walker d. 1808, and so on. The town may also be Abergavenny. Regards Rosie
