red mail James ROWLAND - 1767 - 1846
James Rowland b1767 appears to be the son of Richard and Ann Rowland. Very keen to know more of his origins. Richard appears to come from Penrhos. James married Elizabeth ?surname in 1795. Place of marriage not known. At some stage they left Wales (marriage may not have taken place in Wales in fact) - none of the children were born there and James died in 1846 in Great Baddow in Essex. James was widdowed in 1813 and in 1815 re-married to Hannah (Annah) Mabbs in Essex. James Rowland is known to have had a military career - he served with the 83rd Foot Regiment in the Peninsular Wars under Wellington - he was injured at Salamanca. He was, as were virtually all the Rowlands a TAILOR by trade and may well have been a Tailor in the Army as were his five sons). Grateful for any information on the elusive James.
