red mail Older residents of Ratho
I have hit a brick wall searching for my late husband's grandmother's place of birth and am now attempting to trace the family through her nephew who lived with the family from a young age. His name was Frederick Thomson/Thompson b 1892 and he lived in West End, Ratho, worked as a quarryman when he married a Mary Jane Scott from Sighthill, Corstorphine in 1920. His uncle and aunt were Joseph Woodward and Maria nee Thomson/Thompson. I have tried all the variables of the surname and Christian names for both Frederick and Maria who were both born in Engand but without success. Even the most recent 1911 Scottish Census has not helped. Can you help please? Any scrap of information could be the clue that I need. Thankyou!

John Duncan and Christian Euart were married in Ratho in 1746. I'm interested to know where and when either of them were born, and who their parents were. We believe they may have lived at Morton Hall as employees of the Earl of Morton
