Anyone else researching NELSON or NEILSON, I would like to know more about my gt gt grandmother EUPHEMIA NELSON the surname was that used on the document for her marriage to JOHN GRANT in 1841, her name however after that was gven as NEILSON so I do not really know which is the "correct" spelling, but of course if other facts fit then its possible to knw if I am on the right trail. Her father was given as GEORGE NELSON and that is all the information I have about her early days, I do not really know her correct date of birth either, different ages being given on the various census & certificates, but I don`t think they knew or cared, what their birth date really was, anyway, calculated on the various documents I assume she was born about 1820 give or take a couple of years either side, she appears to have remained in the same area for all her life, St Cuthberts Edinburgh, it I can only trace two children, one my gt grandfather George Nelson Grant b.1841 shortly after her marriage another son John Peter baptised in 1844, then when she remarried in 1861, she had another son Robert Martin in 1862, for those days that was a small family, of xourse she may have had others that did not live or miscarriages its difficult to know. However, if anyone else has found her in their reseach, would you please contact me to share information, thank you.
