red mail Archibald COWEN Smithfield area 1760s - (Smithfield - Middlesex)
Seeking both information and descendants (or both) of my ancestor Archibald COWEN or COWAN who lived in the Lower East Smithfield area of London at least between 1768 and 1772. His wife was named Margaret however original surname is unknown. In 1768 they produced a son George baptised 13/3/1768. Residence was stated as 'King Harry Yard'. In 1770 they produced another boy Peter, baptised 3/6/1770 and unfortunately he died on 8/5/1772. I cannot find any other reference of the couple and know nothing of their lives both before and after these years. The son George became a Thames Police Surveyor so perhaps the location of their residence suggests possibly Archibald was occupied by water/sea activities?? Anyone who can help me fill the dark gaps of this family is very welcome to reply. I would also love to hear from distant cousins... please write soon Cheers, Rob - Australia
