Seeking the Butcher family who came to Southgate in 1800s via Hoxton. As of census 1911 family comprised father Henry Jonathan (b1852), a carpenter, daughters Minnie, Nellie (?), & Susan, plus a son, Fredk James. Address at time Shakespeare Cottages High St Southgate. The father Henry's wife was not listed, and is not known by me, her gt-gt grandson, linked with Downes family of nearby Winchmore Hill.
red mail Thorntons of Beaver Hall
I'm looking for any information on Joseph Thornton (born 1804 in Snaith, Yorkshire), his wife Amelia (nee Meacock, born 1811 in Runcorn, Cheshire) and their large family, who lived at Beaver Hall in the 1860s. I'm particularly interested in their son Frederic (or Frederick) William, who I believe may be my great grandfather on the wrong side of the blanket. My great grandmother, Kate Watkins, took the name Thornton and had seven children by a 'Frederick Edmund Thornton', whom he acknowledged and supported, but they never married. No Frederick Edmund Thornton appears to exist according to all the relevant censuses, so my conclusions are based on detective work, hunches and family apocrypha. It would be great to have some definite answers.
red mail Alice Constance Baldry
Alice Baldry was my grandmother. She married Charles Andrew Stone & they had 4 children including my mother. When my mum was about 7 (early 1930s), Alice ran off with a "tally man". I have been unable to find her death record under Baldry or Stone but she could have changed her name. She was last heard of living in the Southgate area where my mother was born. Hoping somebody knows what happened to her
