Seeking information on David McGLASHON, baptised on 26 July 1812 at Iwade in Kent, and Mary BAKER, born c1820, probably at East Ham, then in Essex. They married at Bromley St Leonard parish church on 13 July 1840 and had the following children, of whom several died in infancy or childhood: William (1841); Hugh (1843-1856), James (1844), Mary Ann (1845), Alexander (1848), David (1849-1851); John (1850-1851); Mary (1853), David (1855), John Thomas (1860), George (1864) and Thomas (1866). Family anecdotal evidence suggests that David's parents, William and Ann McGLASHON, came south by sea from the Nairnshire area of Scotland sometime between 1795 and 1805 (approx) in the company of a Hugh McINTOSH and that William and Hugh worked on the construction of the East India and London Docks. Hugh apparently became a millionaire - or at least the contemporary equivalent of one. There is no concrete information at all about Mary BAKER except that her father was George BAKER and the family might have come from East or West Ham, which at that time were just over the border into Essex. As well as their son David, William and Ann McGLASHON had at least 2 other children who survived to adulthood and married: Ann, baptised at Bromley St Leonard/Bromley by Bow on 11 Nov 1804 and is believed to have married Nathaniel ROGERS, a pewterer (date unknown); and Mary, baptised at Iwade in Kent on 7 Dec 1817 and married John William BROWN at St Mary's, Whitechapel, in 1849. Both couples are believed to have had children so there may be descendants.
