red mail James Ferdinand Kirche, had a dau Caroline, baptised 18 Apr 1830
Hi, really really really stuck on this particular one. He had a daughter, Caroline Julia Groux Kerche. When she gets married to Ezra Edward Twitchett, it calls him Charles. Here's the daughter's actual baptismal record as it appears on ancestry. Name Caroline Julia Kirche Record Type Baptism Baptism Date 18 Apr 1830 Father's Name James Ferdinand Kirche Mother's Name Caroline Kirche Parish or Poor Law Union St Marylebone Borough Westminster Register Type Parish Registers The strange this is that there are NO CENSUS RECORDS nor even any death records concerning James or his spouse, presumably Louisa Carolina Groux. There aren't actually any records to indicate they married other than their daughter's mother being listed as Kirche. It's a really strange case. Any help would most certainly be much appreciated, people.

My Husband's Grandfather was Alfred Wartnaby, born in Paddington about 1892. I have found records of parents and other family. Alfred apparently joined the merchant Navy and served as the ships cook. He was living in Brisbane Australia in 1914 when WW1 broke out and returned to the UK to enlist. I have a photo of him in Army uniform but can find no service record in the National Archives. The story is that he was captured and repatriated to the UK early in the war and rejoined the merchant Navy, however I can find no records of that time. He was on a ship in New Zealand in 1925 and the next record is in 1932 in NZ Census records. I would like to know what regiment he served in and any information between late in WW1 and when he came back to New Zealand where he died in 1963. Any information would be great Regards Dale

Assafrey, Duncan
My father's cousin, Selma Pavlovna Assafrey (christened Selma Wilhelmine Johanna), born in Estonia in 1875, married Scottish-born John Duncan, vocalist, in Paddington, Middlesex, in 1907. The 1911 census shows them still living in London; and looking through the Stage archives, I see that over the years John performed in various musical comedies, esp at seaside resorts. Would like to know if the couple ever had any children. Can anyone help me?

red mail Address Past Uses
I have found two addresses on my fathers birth certificate which puzzle me. 285 Harrow Road Paddington and 179 Harrow Road Paddington, I think the first 285 was the address of a hospital but I can't find anything for the later 179. I am assuming that it might be a work house, but can't be sure. Can anyone tell me firstly how to discover the uses of addresses in days gone by and secondly how I can reserch records of residents in work houses.
