I am searching for information on the background of James Dent who was married to Harriett Chalton. He was born in 1780 somewhere in Essex, married and was a butcher in Marlebone area before he was transported to Australia in 1816. Can anyone help me?

My gg grandfather William Alexander Hills married Sarah Ann Carpenter on, I believe, 22 May 1836 in St George Hanover Square. Subsequent censuses gave her birthplace as Marylebone. After William's death in 1865 Sarah married the lodger, John Dean Bailey, in St Margaret's Westminster on 11 Aug 1867. The marriage certificate for this second wedding gives Sarah's father as John Carpenter, vetinary surgeon. Although I have several possibilities, this is the only definite reference I have for John Carpenter. Can anyone help?

I am looking for William Froomes. He had an inn on the High Street in Brentford in the early 1800's He later immigrated to Castlemaine Victoria Australia - somtime after about 1853. William married Ann Ray had many children - William his eldest son travelled to Adelaide in Australia and later his brther Henry followed him. The rest of the family immigrated to Castlemiane in Victoria Australia in about the 1860's. I think William had an older brother Henry who lived in Marylebone area - they are mentioned in the 1841 census. I am looking for information about Thomas Basset m. to Ellen Ensley. They were the parents of my grandmother Ada Jane Basset born 1868 in Marylebone. I've just received a birth certificate which confirms this. Ada Jane Basset(t) shown on the 1871 and 1881 Census has mother listed as Emma Elsley and father as Thomas Bassett. There is one other Ada Jane who would be the sister of Thomas Bassett(1845) whose father is also Thomas and born about 1921. I also cannot find any birth record for an Ellen Ensley or marriage record for any Thomas Bassett married to Ellen. I do have the marriage record of a Thomas Bassett married to Emma Elsley. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

I am searching for the ancestors of William Stapleton who was born around 1803, allegedly in Marylebone (London) where some of the family stayed (often in the workhouse) at least until around 1900. In 1845 William married Mary MacMaster(s) who was born in Scotland around 1805. I have the trail forward and will willingly share with anyone who is interested. I am stuck however going back. I only know that their respective fathers were both shoemakers (like William and his son - also William) - Jeremiah Stapleton and Peter MacMaster. The trail possibly goes to Rutland and nearby, as well, of course, to Scotland. Can anyone assist please? Thanks

I’m looking for information about the parents of: Winifred Elizabeth Ford. Born 13 Sept 1896 Marylebone. Died: Dec 1984 in Chatham Kent. Married: 9/6/1915 in Lambeth to Walter Jessie Adams. Her birth certificate has her Dad as Albert Ford, travelling Salesman. Her wedding certificate has her Dad as Thomas Ford (Deceased). From her birth certificate her mum is: Hilda Alice Smith. I’ve got her in the 1901 census, with her mum, but it looks like her Dad was not at home (travelling salesman). Any other information would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately there are too many Hilda’s born in Westminister in 1871/72 for me to identify her Mum. Also I can’t find any wedding between a Hilda Smith and Thomas or Albert Ford.

I'm helping a friend out with her family tree and we're stumped in one direction. James Robertson was born 7th December 1911 at 11 Blandford St, St. Marylebone, son of Sadie Ruth Black, father undivulged on birth certificate but known to be a James Robertson. Sadie married a George (Jose?) Phillips on 2nd June 1942 in St. Thomas's Church, Piccadilly, London and she is named on the marriage certificate as Sadie Robertson (daughter of James Black dec'd; a stonemason), so presumably she married James junior's father. Does anyone know anything at all about this family- we can find no reference to Sadie's origins. She died 25 October 1968. The name Sadie often translates to Sarah apparently. Please help!!

They had a Tailoring business at 33 Queen Street, (now Harrowby) and when they died my grandfather Frederick Charles Lackersteen (b. 1872) took over the business and moved to 42 Crawford Street where he was a Master Tailor until he retired in 1955. Clarence's fathers name was Charles William Harriman Fitch, occupation Coach makers labourer. Frances's father was Michael Mockler, occupation Tailor. In the 1911 census they were living at 184 Wharncliffe Gardens NW and had a daughter Florence age 3yrs. In 1943 Clarence and Frances lived at 6 Holland Pk Rd London. I am trying to find details of Louis Frederick Moses (1845-1893) and his brothers, sons of Samuel Moses and Rosetta Moses. Samuel was a most eminent member of the jewish community in London and Tasmania. Louis and some of his brothers changed their names to Walford; he and some of his siblings were born in Hobart, Tasmania where Samuel was in business. I am trying to find information on my GGrandfather John Young who was born in St Maryblebone, Middx c.1829. He was the son of Seabrook Young b. 1803 Chesham, Bucks, and Mary Ann North. I can find no confirmed record of him until 1871 when he was listed in the Census with his wife Charlotte Adams and their children. I know that John's mother died when he was around 10 years old and there is a John Young listed in the 1841 census in the Holborn Workhouse although I don't know if this is correct. If you have any information on this family, I would be very pleased to hear from you and to swap information.

His father is named on marriage certificate as John Thomas Bell and his occupation as basket maker. John and Laura had 2 children Constance (my grandmother) and Sidney. John and Laura died quite young and Sidney was sent to Canada with Barnardos and Constance lived with an Aunt and Uncle who we think was called as a nickname Snowy.

Thomas Price & Eliza Champneys (Champness) married 9.2.1844 St.James Paddington. Eliza baptised 7.7.1822 St.Michaels, Bishops Stortford dau. of George & Mary. Thomas c1821 Pancras but I only have his fathers name Thomas from the marriage cert. They lived in Marylebone and had several children all baptised All Souls St.Marylebone including my great grandfather George Thomas born in 1847 who married Charlotte Bell. It was the second marriage for Charlotte who had previously been married to Edward Foster Sampson and had three daughters. Possible parents for Thomas are Thomas F Price c1802 Talgarth Breconshire and an Elizabeth c1803 Newcastle under Lyme who lived at 41, Union Street which is the address given for the birth of one of Thomas juniors daughters. If any of this information means anything to you I would be pleased to hear.

He came from Ireland, where he owned property in County Clare (and possibly elsewhere) My gg grand mother, Elizabeth Clement (later Durham) was his housekeeper from before 1861 to his death in 1877. It was she who registered his death. Any information that could throw light on her life, and his, would be much appreciated
