Attride
My grandfather's uncle, George Attride Dunington, was born in Hampton in 1852. The family came from Lincolnshire, so we don't know what they were doing in Hampton at the time of his birth. We are especially keen to know why he was named Attride - there are no other Attride's in the family that we know of. Can anyone throw some light on this puzzle?

red mail Henry HILL c.1824 - in Hampton
My great x 3 grandfather, Henry Hill, born in 1800, was working as a publican around 1824 in Hampton. I only know this as the information was written on his son's baptismal entry in 1826 (at St Marys Church). I have no idea where Henry Hill was born or who his parents were. On his death certificate, it says that he was aged 50 in 1851 and that he died in Ventnor, Isle of Wight but somehow I do not think he was native to the island. I do know he married a Sophia Simmonds (of Godshill on the Isle of Wight) and that the couple lived for a while in the vicinity of Old Streeet, London and then at Hampton before returning to the island.
