red mail Bish & Lawrance Families
I am trying to trace my family tree on my fathers side. Alan William Bish, Father William Bish from Bow, Mother Adelaide Bish nee Lawrance. All i know is that they hailed from Bow, came from a large family. During the war, my grandad William Bish worked for the fire brigade. He died of TB around 1950'ish. I believe he had at least two sisters but possibly several brothers too. On my grandmothers side, there were two sisters, Charlotte(Lott), Elizabeth (Nell) and a brother Harry. It is believe that great grandma Lawrance was of German descent on her fathers side. Would love to hear from anyone who could fill in all the missing gaps for me. Thanks

red mail BARNES
Can anyone help. My Gt grandparents were Charles Albert Barnes born 1852 in St Clements Danes and Annie Clara Welham born 1864 in St Matthews, Ipswich. They married in 1883. My grandmother Annie Clarissa was born in 1882. I have now found out that her name at birth was Welham but she did take the Barnes name as it was on her marriage certificate. I have sent off for her birth certificate to see if Charles was her father or not. The other thing that I have found out is that according to the 1881 census my Gt Grandfather must have been married before, as he is listed as a Widower with a son called John who was born in Bow and was 3 at the time of the census. I know this to be correct as the address in 1881 is the same address as on his marriage certificate, plus it is stated that he was a lodger. His mother is also listed. My question is where did this John go and who was Charles married to?? Is there anyone out there that knows or who could help me. Many thanks.

My grandmother Mabel Ferne grew up at her father's bootmaker's shop at 252 Roman Road Bow. They were there from about 1885 to at least 1915. When I visited the area, the site where the shop would have been (current numbering) seems now to be part of a park. I have wondered if the buildings got bombed in WW2. Does anyone know please when 252 Roman Road Bow was demolished?
