red mail Relatives of THOMAS GIBSON early to late 1800's
Hello. Trying to trace my gg grandfather's father & other family members after gg g.f. left Ireland for America in 1867-----THOMAS GIBSON was his father's name, birth and death dates unknown. It's been verified on another son's marriage certificate that THOMAS was a farmer. Maybe in Co.Longford I'm thinking because the other son WILLIAM GIBSON remained in Ireland and listed Thomas as his father on his marriage license in 1876 and also listed Thomas as a farmer (I'm assuming somewhere in Co. Longford since William listed Co. Longford as his own birthplace). My gg grandfather's name was GEORGE ALEXANDER GIBSON (ALEX). Alex's birth date and birth place is listed on various U.S. documents as Dublin--B. June, 1846. He died in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 1904. We have nearly completed documenting his American family but just need documentation about his father THOMAS GIBSON, Thomas's other son WILLIAM and other family in Ireland. Any relatives or researchers out there who may be able to help me? Thanks.

red mail William BARDEN
William Barden was born in 1814 in Longford of parents Daniel and Elizabeth. In 1833 he was convicted of firearms offences and was classified as an Irish Rebel. He was sentenced to life but was transported to Australia on board the "Royal Sovereign", arriving in Sydney in 1834. He later married Charlotte Priscilla Deaves, had 4 children, and died in Kempsey, NSW in 1863. I'd be grateful for any information about William and/or his family.
red mail Farrell's of Edgeworthstown, Longford
I am looking for the family of my gt, gt grandfather Peter (Patrick) Farrell born in 1867 in Edgeworthstown in Longford. His father was Matthew Farrell. Peter joined the 5th Dragoon Guards in about 1884, in 1888 he married Eliza Hartfield in St Annes Cathedral in Belfast. He left the dragoons sometime in 1891 and joined the Cheshire Police in 1892, he served with Cheshire police until the end of 1897 when he and his family moved back to Ireland settling in Belfast. Peter died sometime between 1899 and 1901 and I beleive he re-joined the army at this time and quite possibly fought and died in the Boer War. In 1888 Peter father Matthew was listed as being a Beetler so I wonder if the whole family may have moved to Belfast for work. We know little of Peters family and no one remembers having any contact with them. My grandmother and grandfather moved to England in the 1950's and settled in Northampton. We would dearly like to know more about this side of the family. Thanks!
LONGFORD MILITIA BARRACKS
In 1866, my great grandfather JAMES DONELAN, after serving 21 years in the Regular Army, was posted to Longford Barracks as a Sergeant Major (Instructor), of the 'Royal Longford Rifles' (Militia). With him were his wife Emma and his two children Edward, born in 1863 and Emma born in 1864. I believe that Edward died tragically while they were in Longford and that he either fell into a well or a water tank and was drowned. My great grandparents had three more children in Longford, Mary born 1867, Agnes 1869 and Thomas in 1870 before returning to England in 1873.Can anyone shed any light on the death of Edward please?
