red mail Stokes of Drayton, Almond and Freestone - (Drayton - Leicestershire)
I am looking for any information on the Stokes of Drayton, Leicestershire. My 4x Great Grandfather was Thomas Stokes (born c1773) married to Whyborough Freestone (born c1770). They had 3 children that I know of, John, William and Thomas(c1793, my 3x Great Grandfather) Thomas1793 married Ann Almond, the 1841 census has them living in Drayton, so are John and William; there is also a Samuel and Henry Stokes of a similar age, but I don't know how they relate to the three brothers. Thomas and Ann had six children Thomas, Ellen, Elizabeth (who married her 1st cousin George), Joseph, and Job. Theses are the children on the 1841 census along with Charles (my 2x Great Grandfather). Fellow family researchers also have Ann, Amos, Benjamin, Abigail and Jane as children of Thomas and Ann. Charles married Rachel Thorpe from Uppingham and it seems that all six of thier children Harriet, Albine, Charlotte Ann, Benn, Bertha Margaret and Edwin, (my Great Grandfather), were born in Uppingham but they were living in Drayton. Throughout the census records there are many Stokes' in Drayton and I have yet to fit them all together. I am interested in finding anyone who has a connection with the Stokes of Drayton (or Uppingham, Great Easton, Caldecott, Bringhurst ). Not only do I want to find where many more names I have come in the tree, but I am also interested in anyone who might have photo's, or other documents of the family. I have only 1 photo of a man we think is Edwin Stokes (my Great Grandfather). Edwin joined the army; he went to London, Sheffield, over seas, Grantham, Rotherham and then settled in Sheffield where the the family have remained. Any Information would be welcome
