I'm searching for any details about Emily may street (nee porter) born in hull 1897. She moved to Leicester approx 1931. She was my nannas mother. The story was that she died in a hotel fire but we can't find any record of this. My nan is nearly 90 now, I would love to find out what happened to her mum for her. I have searched every site I can think of, it would be wonderful if anyone could help. Thank you, Mandy.

red mail Family History Search
Hi All, I would firstly like to thank all the people that have helped me to look in the right direction of looking into my grandmothers past. I am also still trying tor research the Wills Family line in Leicester, which unfortunately the records don't quit fit. I have been able to research the Freestone family tree with success. I am trying to research my grandmothers family history. My grandmothers birth name was May Freestone and her mother had the Maiden name of Wills. She Married George William Dalby in 1940 and had 2 daughters, Christine my mother, who lives in Perth in Australia, and Rosamund, who lives outside Birstall in Leicester. May died peacefully in Perth on the 24 of July 2010, 6 hours after my return home to Karratha. This would be the last time I would see her alive. My grand mother had 2 sisters, Millie and Ethel, all three are now deceased. I have been able to track down May's birth records and her date of Marriage. I am genuinely seeking further information on my grandmothers family especially the Wills family. In my grandmothers life, her partner George and May managed the Bulls Head in Quorn from the 1950's to 1960's which has now had a name change and The Sunn Inn. They retired to Perth in 1986 and watched both myself and my sister grow up. My grandmother has seen me achieve my goals and dreams in the last few years of her life. Any information that is provided would be very greatfully appreciated.

I am researching my family history and have got stuck with Alfred Bates(1855 - 1907). I have his wedding licence for 1890 in Leicester to Julia Higgins that states that his father was named George (a collier) who has died. I have the 1891 Census where he lives with Julia and their son John in Leicester Formerly St Margaret, Leicestershire, England, this states that he was born in 1855 in Harlaston, Stafforshire. I have the 1901 census entry that says he was in a workhouse in Leicester, Julia was living with her in-laws and his children were scattered around boarding with other people. Alfred died in 1907 of a cardiac dilitation whilst living in the Union Workhouse in Ashby De La Zouch, Coalville. Death certificate says he was 61 years old therefore born in 1846 (however the 1891 census and his birth certificate stated he was 36 making his age at death 52. Occupation said to be a General Labourer. Please contact me if you have any information regarding the Bates or Higgins family.

Am seeking help finding my grandfather, William H. Palmer, known as Harry. He married my grandmother, Ruth Olive Lanes (aka Dorothy or Dolly) in Sheffield in 1914. William Palmer lists his age in 1914 as 34, so he was born in 1879 or 1880. They separated soon after the war so my father knew very little about him. My father believes his father was from Leicestershire. He was an ambulance driver in WWII and afterwards worked for the 1st Earl Beatty as head groom. He may have lived in Southend-on-sea in the 1930's and may have remarried (after the death of Dolly Lanes in 1935). I would greatly appreciate any leads whatsoever. Thanks.

red mail Herrick family
Henry Herrick arrived in Mass. June 29, 1629 and married Editha Laskin. Presumably he had studied at Cambridge before departing and was son of Sir William Herrick. There is also reference to a Henry Herrick in old Commonwealth of Virginia records, but the signature does not appear to reflect a studious nature. By now, there is some debate as to where the Henry, son of William settled in USA, and some suspect Oxford's Bodleian library archives of Herrick papers might eventually reveal where Henry settled. Any clues? perhaps very old correspondence clarifying the issue?

red mail Keeton Family searching ancester.
I'm a curious fox! Happy new year to all from America. My great grandfather was Alfred Francis Keeton. Went by frank Keeton. I'm told he was born in Virginia, U.S.A, but like all immigrants from great britain they mostly settled in virginia being the first English colony. And it was the place of records. Richmond, Virginia. However I've not had any luck on finding out much about my Great grandfather. First off, my great grandmother and he had an unhappy marriage. She left him. At 4 years old Frank Keeton's son John richard carried then, a different last name. My great grandmother changed it to Wilkinson. He carried that name unknowingly himself untill he was married with children. My father and his siblings didn't know this, and myself and my siblings all carry the Wilkinson name. I only honor " Keeton," as this is in fact my bloodline and birthrite name. Eventhough I only found this out in recent years. It's an unfortunate thing, but I'm wondering if there are any Keetons that could possibly give me a list of immigrants who came to the U.S. in the 1800's and even before that time. I'm trying to link my greatgrandfather's family line back to England. There's a gap between the time frame but I need a place to start.Thank you kindly for your thoughts and time, Phillip
