My mother is 96 years old Clara Millicent Ratcliffe. The family Ratcliffe had a fish and fruit and veg. double fronted shop in Syston circa 1920/30. My grandfather was William John Ratcliffe married a Lewin my Grandmother. They ran this buisness together and I believe had a lorry, one of the first which my Uncle Herbert used to drive. He had a brother Jack and sisters Mabel, Mary, and Gladys. He is my father and I do not know anything about his parents. I have come across a branch of my family that uprooted from surrey and moved to Syston in Leics around 1872. James Blake and Sarah (nee Voller). Their 4th cild John was born in 1873 in Syston with a further 8 siblings born through to 1889 all in Syston (Frederick, Frances, Caroline, Alfred, Emma, Sydney, Rose Annie, and Walter George).
