Terry family
I am researching on behalf of a friend, the Terry family who lived in Melton Mowbray - it's possible they were still living there in 1943. James Terry was a civil engineer and his son Ernest Walter Terry was born in April 1886; he was also an engineer. Ernest married possibly just before WW1 and then he moved abroad after the marriage failed. He returned alone from Africa in 1930. He remarried in 1943. If anyone has any information about this family it would be much appreciated. thank you.
red mail looking for relatives
following on from a shot in the dark I am looking for possible relatives in this area. My grandfather Samuel Hughes was posted to melton Mowbray with the RAF during the war. Family believe he had an affair with a postmistress in this area and had a daughter by her. This daughter was brought up by the postmistress, sister. He was her legal guardian and had to give permission for her to marry an American serviceman. He actually gave her away at the ceremony which took place circa 1962. Naturally this whole business caused murder in the family and he told everybody that she had died in a mid air collision in the USA not that long after that pre 1965. This may have been said just to finish matters, but the story is so daft surely it must be true, can anyone help
