red mail ALFONSO, ALFRED
I only have a snippet of information regarding my grandfather, Alfred Alfonso. According to his marriage certificate, he married my grandmother, Sarah Ellen Kirk on 19th August 1919. Alfred was just 19 years old at the time and Sarah was 21. It states on the certificate that Alfred's father, of the same name, was a shopkeeper. Can anyone shed anymore light on this? The name sounds either Italian or Spanish. I am unable to find either Alfred's in the births registry. Perhaps he was not born here. But somebody may remember a shop called Alfonso's or something like that.
