Iv spent the last few years researching the Akiens family tree. Every person born since 1600, when records first began for common people. All the maiden names that joined the family are also listed. The name originated in a place called Belgrave centuries ago. Before 1600 it was spelft Alfins, Alkins, Aikens, Akines and finally to its present form Akiens in 1780. Akins, Atkins and Atkinson are all other tributaries of the name, as well as a few others. Every Akiens world wide come from Belgrave and is related to each other.
