Mark HAMMOND 68th Regiment
My Great Great Grandfather served in the 68th Regiment. He died in Mountmellick in February 1847. I am wondering whether there is any chance of a marked grave there or in a nearby town. I presume he was Protestant though his wife, Catherine O'SHEA, appears to have been RC because they married in a RC church in Quebec and their two children were Baptised in the Quebec RC Cathedral and a RC church in Chester.

red mail Looking for Conroy, Brenigan, Deegan
I am looking for great-grandfather, and his parents, and grandparents. Great-grandfather Christopher Conroy was baptized March 14, 1847. He came to the U.S. probably sometime in the 1860's and married Mary Horan in the U.S. His parents were Edward Conroy and Sarah Deegan, and Edward's parents were Peter Conroy and Catherine Brenigan. I have no birthdates but a cousin visited Ireland and got the baptisimal dates from Mountmellick Catholic Church and it listed his parents and grandparents. How soon after the children were born in the 1800's were they baptized? Any information anyone can give me on these people or if there are other places I could look for this very old information would be greatly appreciated. Fran
