Great grandmother and brick wall!
Trying to find details of my great grandmother, Mary Ellen Mc Donald born about 1867 in Liverpool, but area could be West Derby, Walton-on-the-Hill or even Toxteth. She married John L Levens in 1899. I have heard on his death in December 1913 he was taken around the city of Manchester on a horse drawn Carriage was declared an Old Soldier of England. I know he was in the military for many years. Looking for information on Hugh Collins (b1855) who married Isabella Fisher (b1859) in 1878, in Liverpool, Lancashire. Child Mary Ann Collins born Dec. 1882 baptized ALL SOULS CATHOLIC Church 18 Jun 1896. Appears with parents in 1891 Liverpool Lancashire census, but gone for 1901. Story goes that she went away to school (Ireland or Scotland where mother's friend was nun) and returned home when her mother died (May 1904) and took care of siblings (then on to America). Where did she go? Cannot find her in any 1901 census, but see possibilities, listed as housekeeper/domestic servant. Any information appreciated.

Looking for information on Edward Anderson WILSON, born 1837-41, possibly in or near Manchester; died 1900 in Sydney, Australia. He was the son of James WILSON and Katherine ANDERSON. He migrated (or was perhaps transported) to Australia before 1874. He had a wife who remained in the UK and may have died in the 1880s, because he remarried in 1886. There may have been children from his first marriage. In Australia he was employed as a journalist (sports and turf writer), and this may have been his profession in the UK.

My grandparents and three of their four children lived in Bolton from about 1927-1929/30. My granfathers name was George William Cumming and my grandmother was Margaret Daisy Cumming (nee Beatson). The three children were, Anne Ross Cumming, Isobel Mary Cumming and Margaret Gavine Cumming attended Mount St. Joseph's school. My aunt, Anne Ross Mitchell (nee Cumming) is the only one of the four sisters that is still alive and living in New Zealnd. They married in Ballina in 1900 and moved to Lancashire. William was a policeman in Manchester. I believe they had at least 1 daughter. Maggie was raised by James and Annie Hearns O'Rourke. James was a constable in the RIC. Maggie immigrated to NY in 1891 with the O'Rourke family after James died. She returned to Ireland to marry William. Maggie visited US several times after that. Williams parents were John and Catherine Clarke. William had cousins living in Lancashire - Edward Clarke, and also his son John Clarke, all from Ballymanagh, Ardagh. Mary Kate Clarke Scott was a daughter of Edward who raised the family in Ballymanagh after her mother died and Edward went to England to work. Any info on any Clarkes in Lancashire would be greatly appreciated.

His marriage certificate states that his father is James LYONS who's profession is a 'labourer'. That's all I know about James. Tom married ALMA MARY ELIZABETH BOND, she was b in IRELAND C 1851-54. He married and fathered 5 daughters between 1906 and 1928, before leaving the family 1932. His father Rodger who was a cabinet maker, also lived in Retford in 1913 at least. I'm having trouble find this man and his family on any census information. He married Margaret Esther Traynor/Trainor in 1906 in Liverpool, both are of the Catholic faith. I have an address in Norris Green West Derby for them in 1938. His father is also William and they are both Carters in 1906. Any help how ever small will be very apreiciated.

Hi I am looking for help in filling in some big Gaps of My Great Grandfather Fred Gartland life. Fred (or Frederick) was born in the Workhouse in Halifax UK on the 19th April 1890, his mothers name was Eliza Gartland (Father unknown). Eliza Family is as follows: Her father was John Gartland who is believed to have been born around the 1833 to 1838 in Drogheda Ireland. In the 1871 census I find him in Stalybridge Lancashire UK married to a Theresa but unfortunately I can not find him anywhere before this date or anywhere after 1891. His children are Eliza Born 1872 Lancashire, Matthew Born 1874, Tom Born 1876, Mary Anne(annie) Born 1878, Fanny & Helen (or Ellen) Born 1881, Alice & Kate Born 1883, Sarah Born 1884, John Born 1886 all in Halifax. It is our belief that Eliza Gartland married an Ernest Lawton not long after having Fred and in the 1901 census we have found Ernest and Eliza living in 266 Hanson Lane Pellon Halifax with Fred aged 10, His Uncle Tom Gartland and Uncle Mathew Gartland and his step brothers and sisters Winifred Born c 1900, Edward Born c1898, Elisa Born c1895. In apprx 1942 he left home one day and never returned to the Family, his Wife Dora Gartland (maiden name Allinson) and his children Selwyn and Elga Moved to Australia and his daughter Sheila (who married Paul Todd) moved to New Zealand. Just before his death 9th October 1974 Fred (Frederick) lived in 220 Arlington Road, Arlington House Camden. Our Challenge has come in 1 Tracking down what life Fred lived between 1942 to 1974 2 Any information on Eliza Family especially her Father John Gartland from Ireland 3 Any information after 1901 of Ernest and Eliza and there children Winifred, Edward and Elisa Any information, no matter how little or large, would be accepted with great gratitude. Hi I am looking for info on my grandfather's (John Edwin Curson b 12.12.1916) first wife they were married in 1938 & she died in late 1944 or early 45. She is supposed to be buried in Rushden, Lancashire. Also looking for info on my grandfather's parents were John Curson and Frances (Cropper)Curson(d. 27/03/68 aged 67 yrs). I am trying to solve a mystery about Clara Eccles (born 14 Nov 1877) to John Thomas Eccles and Elizabeth Ann Eccles (nee Knowles) of Sudellside St, Over Darwen. In the 1881 Census, Clara appears as "Clara Nightingale" aged 3, living with William and Eleanor Nightingale (nee Bury) in Rock Villa, Bury Fold Lane, Over Darwen. In 1991 she is still with the Nightingales, but then called by her real name, Clara Eccles, age 13. Does anyone know what happened to her parents so soon after her birth? And what link did she have with the Nightingales?

I am trying to find any info on William Horrocks and Alice Marsh. They were married at some point in 1843 - 1845? I am not certain exactly when. They had three children Thomas born 1845, Ralph born 1847, and John Born 1854. The dob's are + or minus a year. All three boys immigrated to Canada in 1872. Once in Canada they all changed their last names to Jones, which is very curious. I believe the parents stayed in England. If any one has any info at all about this family, surname, stories that might explain the reason of the name change, or suggestions on how to research the English records, I would greeatly appreciate it. I have not had much luck in England.
