red mail William Ogden b. 1831
I just learned the news that my great-grandfather, William Ogden (born January 20, 1831) was christened on February 12, 1831 in Royton, Lancashire. His father was Thomas Ogden and his mothers maiden name was Dinah Smith. They were married July 25, 1830 ("early" baby, huh?) in Prestwich, Lancashire. I am in America and quite new to this. Would anyone be kind enough to explain are Royton and Prestwich two separate towns in the same county (Lancashire)? How close are they? Where might I find a list of non-Catholic churches in both towns? William came to America at some point, at least by 1854. But I would like to find any siblings he may have had, or especially where his parents are buried, so that I may plan to England for that purpose, to find their graves...the highpoint of my search. My guess is Royton? Thank you very much for any help. I have traced the family tree from William's arrival in America on down the line to myself. thank you! Sandra
