I had an Aunt Rachel Whalley who on 2nd May 1925 gave birth to a son Maurice Whalley at Moorland House Rawtenstall. Was this a workhouse or mother and baby home as this was not her address at the time.Also she was a domestic servant and I am trying unsuccessfully to find out where she worked. Regards Pat

Looking for info on descendents of James Rawlinson Taylor b1888 Cracoe Rylstone,Yorkshie. He died in 1956 at the time residing at Lower Chapel Hill Farm, Rawtenstall. He Had 3 sons Frank (my Grandad) George and john. John took over the farm when james died. John was married to Claire and they had 2 children John and jean it is these 2 they i would like to know about appreciate any help.

Im am looking for my ancestor in the 1841 census. Her name was Harriet Fifield, born c 1827. her father was William Fifield, a scutcher(!?). She was born in Marple,Cheshire, but married in 1845 in Rawtenstall. Her surname has a different spelling on every document that I have bought! I would be grateful for any help.

I am researching the Sellers aka Sellars family who lived in Rawtenstall in the 1800's. It seems the family moved to Rawtenstall from Padiham and later moved to Glossop in Derbyshire. I understand a William Henry Sellars was Landlord of the Crown Hotel in Rawtenstall in the 1800's.
