Mary Brown, spinster of full age, married Henry Ware, mechanic, in Eccles Parish Church on 9 May 1842, at which time they were both living in Pendleton. Mary's father was William Brown, painter. In the 1851 census Mary is listed at 7 Back Ravald Street, St Barnabas, Manchester: she is aged 30, born in Manchester. She died aged 38 on 11 April 1858 of phthisis (TB) at 15 Wright Street, Ancoats. Any information on Mary's family, birth and early life welcomed.

I have found my Riley family in Pendleton in the 1851 census. John Riley married Mary Barnes in 1845 at St. Mary's in Bury. In 1851 they are in Pendleton working in the weaving industry. There are other Riley's in the area but I am unsure of the relationship. In the 1870's my Riley's immigrated to Fall River, MA. I would like to hear from any Riley or Barnes in this area.

Could anybody give me any information about HOPE FARM? My father's aunt Annie gerrard worked and lived there in 1911. she would have been 22. I have an old postcard that was sent to her at this address and a photo of her stood next to a cow, so i'm presuming it was a dairy farm. Does anyone know of anybody who also worked there and any history of the farm? Would welcome any help.

He was living with his second wife Fanny at 42 Alpha St, Pendleton, Salford Lancashire in 1881 cencus and was still there at the time of his death in 1889. His daughter Frances Elizabeth was also working as a Domestic in the area at the time of his death.

I am trying to trace the ancestry of 2 of my maternal great grand parents. John Sullivan , born abt 1838, I think originated from Devizes and was a corn merchant in Pendleton.He married Sarah Powell who was born in Llandudno in 1841.Both are buried in Peel Green cemetary.

I am looking for more information on William WALTON and his wife Mary Hibbert. Wm was born in Eccles in 1846 and Mary was born 1846 in Monyash, Derby. I have been unable to locate a marriage record, but I know they settled in Pendleton, raised 7 children, moved to Worsley and then departed to America. red mail Matthew Higginbottom b.1791
Matthew Higginbottom was born in 1791 at Irlam 0'th Heights near Pendleton, Manchester. He served in the army as a Master Tailor until he bought his discharge in 1826. Matthew then lived in Clerkenwell as a Tailor and Wesleyan Methodist Preacher. Hepreached at the Great Queen Street Chapel and did good works at the St. Pancreas Workhouse, and had 10 sons and daughters between 1831 and 1848 with his wife Sarah. Matthew died in 1877 and is buried at Abney Park Cemetery.
