red mail 'Children's nursery', Green Lane, Patricroft
Can anyone tell me anything about the 'children's nursery'. The 1901 census lists all the children of Frank and Annie Morrow as 'inmates'at that time. Their parents seemed to be living locally but at seaparate addresses. I'd like to find out what kind of nursery it was, whether it was run by one of the known organisations eg. Banardos and what the circumstances were likely to have been for the family that resulted in the children being there. Any information would be helpful
red mail Bruce family members sought
Sarah Ellen Bruce, b, 20/12/1899, sisters Alice, Lily, Margaret and Isabella (Cissie), brothers Eddy (Eddie?) and William. Father was William Bruce, a slater, mother Margaret (Maggie). I'm compiling my family tree (I'm Sarah's grandson), so if there's anyone who links into this group, or can shed light on any of them, I'll willingly share what I have, including contact details for a whole host of Cissie's descendants in Australia. (I've added "Brose" as I think this was William's mis-spelt surname in the 1881 census, when he was lodging with another family with his sister Alice.) Hartley was my Grandmother's married name. Regards, Barry.
