Looking for any information on Tattersalls of Oswaldtwistle and particularly George, born abt 1800 Oswaldtwistle. His occupation was a Calico Printer according to Census found for him in London in 1861 (Marylebone, Middx.) Possible but unclear that he was married to Isobel and then later Elizabeth Hanson. His son John born abt 1821 Altham, Lancs married Emma Carver (born 1817 Lancing, Sussex) in 1845. Still trying to identify a death registration for George and confirm marriages.

My great grandfather Robert Shuttleworth b1857 lived in Moor End Oswaldtwistle, his Father was Thomas Shuttlewoth b1829 and his mother Elizabeth b1822, Robert lived at Moor End until his marriage to Mary Chambers in 1876 then he lived in Union Road and White Ash Lane. I would be grateful for any information on this family, particularly Thomas and his wife Elizabeth, if anybody knows her maiden name .

My grandfather David Brown was born in Oswaldtwistle in 1888. He married Susanna Slinger and they both worked in the cotton mills. I know my grandad served in the army in South Africa in Durban and other places, regiment unknown. Desperately seeking the death certificate of Lily Cross died at 71 Cross Street Oswaldtwistle in 1923 she was 19 years old . She was the daughter of Nellie Hankinson and John Cross.She was Buried in Accrington Cemetery on March 12th 1923 .If anyone knows anything about the cause of Lily's death I would really appreciate it . I have checked Blackburn Register Office , Preston Reg. and Southport all to no avail .

Joseph Cronshaw Dean b 1900 and Martha Davies b c1900 married in 1921 at St. Oswald's Church, Knuzden. They were, before they married, next door neighbours at 7 and 5 Spread Eagle Street, Oswaldtwistle. They had a son in 1922 - Joseph J Dean who was born in the Blackburn registration district (which includes the above area). He also died in Blackburn registration district in 1996. I wonder if anyone has any knowledge of Joseph J Dean or any children he may have had if he married. Would be delighted with any information available.

Bertha was my g.aunt and I visited her in Oswaldtwistle about 55 years ago! She married John Carter Yates on 14th October 1916 at St Paul's Church Accrington. John Carter Yates was the son of John Carter Yates and I believe the family came from Oswaldtwistle. Bertha had several brothers and sisters, one of whom was Christiana Waterworth who married William John Holden and another was Mary Ann Waterworth (my grandmother) who married Thomas Henry Mills in Accrington in 1908 at St John the Evangelist Accrington.
