red mail William Fothergill Robinson, Liverpool, Hide Broker
I am looking for information on the Robinson's and the Atkinson's of Liverpool, some residing in Aigburth, near Liverpool in St Annes' Street; Christopher Atkinson, American Merchant and his children Mary Susan and William Christopher. The Robinson's were William Fothergill, a hide broker and his wife Mary, their children Arthur, William Fothergill (Junior) and a few others. They all came from Liverpool. Arthur Robinson was born in Liverpool in 1843. He went on to marry Mary Susan Atkinson, being the daughter of his father's probable buisness associate, in 1867 in West Derby just out of Liverpool. They went onto have about 9 children from 1869 to 1881, when I believe Arthur died. Arthur was a South American Banker. Their oldest daughter, Ethel Mary Robinson went on to marry Edwin Bedford Steel in Toxteth Park, in 1899; they had a son in 1907, my great grandfather, Christopher Bedford Steel. I would appreciate any information about banking and brokers, and buisness in Liverpool involving the Robinsons and the Atkinsons from about the 1830's to the 1870's. Thank you Bye for now Jessica

red mail Fletcher and Fielding families
(1.1) MY great-great grandfather was JOSEPH FLETCHER and I need details of his BIRTH which seems to have been c1817. The 1841 Census states that he was living in Portor Street, Liverpool, was a smith and born in the county (i.e. Lancashire). The 1851 and 1861 Censuses state that he was born in Liverpool. (1.2) WHEN Joseph married for the first time in 1838, he and his wife ANN FIELDING were living in Porter Street, and Ann also died there in 1842. (2.) JOSEPH'S two Marriage Certificates state that his father was JOHN FLETCHER, a whitesmith, but I have not found John in any Census, and still need details of John's BIRTH, MARRIAGE AND DEATH. (3.) I NEED details of Ann Fielding's BIRTH which seems to have been c1820. (4.) I NEED details of the BIRTH of Joseph's second wife, ELIZABETH FIELDING(Ann's sister!) which seems to have been c1823. At the time of their marriage in 1843 she and Joseph were living at Great Howard Street, Liverpool, but I have not found her or her parents in the 1841 Census. The family moved south between 1843 and 1851, and the 1851 and subsequent Censuses say she was born in Liverpool. (5.) ELIZABETH and Ann's father was JOHN FIELDING, a labourer in 1838 and a mariner in 1843. Hopefully Elizabeth was living with her father in 1841. IS THERE anyone out there who can help me with any of this?
