My grandmother was born "Annie Stock" in Liverpool, Dec. 25, 1893. She had a sister named Alice; possibly a brother named Arthur...could have been others. Her parents were Charles Stock and Augusta Annie Berry. (Have found a record of an Augusta's birth that seems to be a good fit of the time and place: Liverpool, 1864; parents: James and Mary Anne Berry). Annie's family moved to Canada, where she married twice. Her first marriage (1910) had Archie and Alice Stock as witnesses. (I'm a product of the second marriage). I am researching my family tree, my late g grandmother was Priscilla Gander born 1872/3 in Liverpool, her father was listed as James Gander (deceased) on her marriage certificate. All I know about Priscilla is that she was left as a orphan and was sent to live with her aunt in London, name of Noble. On the 1891 I have her in Middlesbrough as a visitor, the daughter of this family, later becomes her bridesmaid at her marriage to John Stephenson, she worked at the 'big house' in Ingleby Greenhow, which is on the outskirts of Middlesbrough, she married John, who sadly died, whilst in the cinema, g great grandma thought he had fallen asleep. Is anybody else looking for the surname of Gander from the Liverpool area. I would love to hear from you, as this is my major brickwall and I would love to know more about her and her family before she was married. I cannot even find her birth registered anyway or her father's death. Thanks Jane

I know that they housed children who were in need of care and attention, those caught stealing or begging, or even selling small items. She was born, Amy Burrey, at Chorley in South Cheshire. The family lived in the West Derby area in the 1840s, at Boundary Terrace in the late 1850s, and in Prussia Street in the 1860s. By 1881 she was living in Liscard at her daughter's guest house.

I am seeking descendants of William George Lawson and his wife Em, last known at 8 Clarendon Road, Seaforth, and previously in Waterloo. He was born in 1889, the son of Walter George Lawson (publican) and wife Matilda (nee Doherty). William died on 25 April 1956, aged 66, having sustained a fatal accident the previous day whilst working for United Grain Elevators unloading from the ship 'Empress of France'. William served in 2/10 Kings Liverpool (Liverpool Scottish) Regiment in WW1 and was awarded the Military Medal in 1917 for his actions in the Dicky's Dash Trench Raid in France. A memorial to those who died was unveiled last year at Erquinghem-Lys, attended by relatives and representatives of the Liverpool Scottish Museum. Names of William George's relatives reported at the time of his death included JONES (Edward and Agnes, wife's family); LAWSON (Gordon and Edith); MAGEE (Grace and Frank/Francis, wife's family) as well as LAMB (Joan and John?) and SHIELDS.

I am looking for information on JIMMIE/JAMES MCGRATH. He was born in Dungarvan,Co Waterford in approx 1886. He joined the Merchant Navy, and served in the 2nd world war. He was awarded the OBE for saving approx 11 lives, when his ship got torpedoed. There was a big write up in the Liverpool Paper. He lost his leg due to the torpedo. Adam Tristram born Ireland abt.1820 lived in Liverpool with wife Mary Ann (nee)Budds 1870's plus....They are both buried in Anfield Cemetery Liverpool. Numerous children. Adam married in Ireland 2-3 times prior to arriving in Liverpool. Was School Teacher then worked on docks as weigher. Anyone interested in this surname please make contact.

Their fifth son Albert John (born Liverpool abt 1878) was my GG Grandfather. He moved to Australia somewhere around 1900 and met and married an Australian girl Catherine Brown in 1902.
