Stanley Goodyear (WW2)
Stanley Goodyear served with the Royal Corps of Signals during WW2, dying in January 1946 age 18. The CWGC describes him as son of Edith Goodyear of Gorton, Manchester. Mr Goodyear is buried at CASTLEMORTON in Worcestershire. Is anyone researching these Goodyear's or can explain their connection with the Malverns? Thanks

I am looking for any descendants of John McIlvenna, born in Gorton, Lancashire in 1846. He married Elizabeth Bowker in 1870. They had eleven children, nine of whom survived to at least 1911. Their children were: Henry, born 1872, married Nancy Ann Smith; Albert, born 1874, married Elizabeth Haworth; Mary Ellen, born 1876; Alice, born 1879, married John William Kettle; Annie, born 1880; Martha, born 1882, married William H Bradbury; Nelly/Nellie, born 1884 (my ancestor), married John Ernest Lindop; John, born c1888 and Florie, born 1888, married Charles T Bassett. They were all born in Gorton.

My paternal great-grandparents were shown in the 1901 census as living in Peter Street, Gorton, Ecclesiastical Parish Abbey Hey St George, but having looked on various old maps I can't find Peter Street anywhere. Thomas Simpson married Sophia Brough in Manchester and later moved to Gorton where Thomas ran a hairdressers shop. They had 10 children. Their son Thomas born 1874 was apprenticed to a racing stables in 1886 aged 12. He later moved to Letcombe Regis Berkshire. I would like to know more about his family.

Bevins of Gorton, Manchester Looking for information on the following children of William Bevins (1855-1942) and Elizabeth Grimshaw (1857-1907): Clara, born Gorton c1880; Luke, born Gorton 1883 (believed to have died in the 1914-18 war); William, born Gorton 1885 (may have died in 1914); Elizabeth Ann, born Gorton 1886 (known as Ann or Annie, married Charles Driver); John, born Gorton 1890 I believe Ann and Charles Driver had children Harold, Charles and Ada. I also believe John was the licensee of Lincoln's Inn, at Preston Street Hulme during the 1950's and that he was a well-known collector of Toby jugs. William and Elizabeth were my great x2 grandparents. My great grandfather, James Bevins (1881-1962), was their second child. James married Florie Holmes (1883-1963) in 1906 and in 1912 they emigrated to Sydney, Australia with their sons James Cedric (1907-1993) and William Charles (1909-1997). Any info very gratefully received.

My ancestor George Andrew Ellis was born in Gorton. His father James was born in Huddersfield and his mother Caroline was born in Stalybridge. The only other children that I know about were born in Ashton-under-Lyne. All this info was gotten from the81 Census and while I am hoping that it is correct, it's not always. His siblings names are Joseph, Hannah, and James. If anyone knows anything about anyone mentioned or can give me a hint on where I should be looking please let me know.
