I am searching for a death for Hannah Higginbotham, born 11 April 1810 in Denton, last Census I have found her in is 1851, she was living in Town Lane, aged 45 ?, head of household, single, Hat Trimmer, living with her son Frederick and daughter Sarah Ann. Hannah made a mark on the marriage certificate of her daughter in April 1858.

My GGG grandparents were Robert Macleod b. 1776, Sutherland (crofter) and Fanny LIDDLE (also called Francis LEIGHTON) b. 1781 in IRELAND. They had three children: Robert Macleod b. 7.1.1811 at Craich d. 4.12.1866 Glasgow; John Macleod b. 1817 at Rhinhoyi; and David Macleod b. 1820 at Strathy. Is there anyone who can trace their ancestors to these people as I would like to know who were the parents of Robert and Fanny and if they too were residents of Strathy.and/or how Fanny came to meet up with Robert. Mary and her youngest brother Albert were 'adopted' by their aunt and uncle James Wilshaw and Sarah Rothwell when their mother Annie died in 1918. John POLLITT 1805 – 1854. Born Haughton Green Lancashire and Schoolmaster of Denton Old School 1846 – 1854. The school was demolished c1860 and the ground used for additional burial space. John was married to Mary Yates who was Schoolmistress, they lived at the Schoolhouse. I am interested in the social history of the school and the Pollitt/Yates ancestors and descendants. Their son William Pollitt b1836 Stockport Cheshire went on to become Schoolmaster of Withington School c1881 on Stockport Road. I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has information on either of these Victorian schools and there association with the Pollitt's Thank you. Ray.

His wife was called Mary Swann who was born in Chapel en le Frith, Derbyshire, their children were, James, Mary Ann,Edward (my great grandfather), John,Ada and Thomas Henry.
