red mail Thomas Sutcliffe
Good day, my great great grand father Thomas sailed to Australia in 1854 chasing gold and a new life. Unfortunately Thomas found neither gold nor happiness it seems as he died in the back of a pub on the way to work in Mitcham Victoria. There must be relatives in this area that wondered what happened to Thomas, he left a son John whom I think did well and a good family which I am part of. Thomas's trade was a color maker, he married Ann Law in 1846 and his fathers name was Richard. He travelled to Australia on the sailing ship Lightning which was very fast and paid for his own passage. It seems to me he may have been a square peg in a round hole in Australia and life was probably tough. Interesting is it not, go thru the system if you wish to communicate, regards. John
