I am looking for family members including, Horne, Douglas, Campbell, Chalmers, my granddad was George Horne married to Elizabeth Chalmers, they moved around Scotland as George was a train driver, and had relatives in Hamilton, Motherwell, Stirling and Perth before settling in Carlisle, Cumbria. There could be a William, John and a Tom, not sure if these are siblings of Horne or Chalmers, George died at an early age, around 1950 ish.
red mail Haddow/Salmond/Forsyth/Gartshore/McIntyre
Is there anyone researching these two families? Thomas Haddow married Janet Salmond in 1866 in Monkland. A farm called Crumlet is mentioned in paperwork. Thomas' father appears to be a David Haddow but on his birth, marriage and death certificate there are contradictions as to his mother. Janet Salmond's parents were Peter Salmond and Janet Salmond (nee Forsyth). Peter Salmond remarried Jane Aitken (nee Gartshore) after his first wife's death and in 1886 the family came out to Australia bringing Thomas and Janet Haddow's daughter, Jessie (Janet Haddow) with them as she had been orphaned when 4. 4 Salmonds returned to Lanarkshire from Australia with a 1901 census showing them living in Coatbridge. Any information on when they actually arrived back in Scotland (Peter and Jane Salmond Snr (Jane died in Glasgow at her daughter's residence, Ms Elizabeth McIntyre), Peter Salmond jnr and William Salmond) would be appreciated - together with anyone who can throw light on Thomas Haddow's ancestors/siblings and also the Forsyth family.

She married William Knox in Govan, Lanarkshire on 14th Sept. 1855. From shipping record searches it appears over the period 1882 to 1887 inclusive 8 family members travelled to Australia on the s.s "Garonne" arriving Australia November 1887. What my question is I can find no further records of Marion Masson after the 1871 Scotland Census.... If anybody can shed some light on this lady who is my paternal Great Grandmother.
red mail KNOX and MASON/MASSON
I have come to a screaming halt in my search for my forebears. I have learned the names of my Great Grandfather and his wife. But that is as far as I can go. I do not know when they married or when either were acually born. I am also aware of 6 children from their union. I looked in the 1871 Scottish Census which told me they were in the Registration District of High Church, Civil Parish Glasgow Inner High, County Lanarkshire and they lived in Kirk Street. And that my Great Grandfather was born in Paisley,Renfrewshire about 1833. Hoping somebody can come to my rescue and help me out... Dianne

red mail GOUGH AKA McGough McGeough
Hello, I am seeking and researching Scottish and ex-Scottish GOUGH ancestors / relatives, while also working on McGough AKA McGeough Irish origins in Monaghan which are proving more elusive given paucity of details. ** nb: I don't know of any USA birth/marriage/death connections to these GOUGHS. There likely are USA connections from the 1830s-1840s Carrickmacross Monaghan era when siblings/relatives of Francis McGeough likely went to the USA, maybe via Glasgow where he stopped and stayed. We come from Francis McGeough AKA Frank McGough b.c.1818 arrived into Glasgow from Carrickmacross Monaghan Ireland in 1841. Frank McGough died 12 Feb. 1881 Glasgow. Francis McGeough married Ann Mortimer in Glasgow on 5 Jan 1845. Their only surviving child (of 5) was John McGough born 24 Nov.1845 Glasgow, m.1 Dec.1875 to Helen Hutton HILL. Francis stayed in Glasgow, as did his surviving son John, and all? of Francis' eight McGough/Gough grandchildren (John and Helen's children) who were: 1. Francis Mc Gough (b. c. April 1869 - d. as yet unknown (**2 April 1871 census: son, aged 2 years)) 2. William McGough/Gough (b.1870 - d. as yet unknown. 1871 census states aged 7 mo). Married to Cuthbertson 3. Helen McGough/Gough (b.1872 - d.1948). Married to Smith 4. John McGough/Gough (b.5 Feb 1875 - d. as yet unknown). Married to McMahon 5. Ann/Annie McGough/Gough (b.1877 - d. as yet unknown). Married to Bell 6. Peter McGough/Gough (b.1881 - d.1973). Married to McCulloch 7. David McGough/Gough (b.1885 - d.1957). Married to Cope And their half sister: 8. Mary Welsh Hill McGough/Gough. (b.1 Oct 1889 - d. as yet unknown). Many grandchildren of these 8 grandchildren are now residing internationally, including in Australia. **re: McGough name - It appears that the last use of the Mc before the Gough was on the 1920 Death Cert. of Helen Hutton McGough (nee Hill). One initial query I have is whether anyone is related to this man and/or can share details of his parentage: David Storrar GOUGH born 1915 CADDER (WESTERN)/LANARK (Glasgow). And it would be great to be in touch with any extended family who I have or haven't yet been in contact with. Julie G Jan 2012

red mail Cunningham Family
I am looking for information on the Cunningham family, who lived in Scotland and immigrated to Britain and the U.S. in the mid 1800's. I do not know the parent's names, but the eldest girl was my G-G-Grandmother, Elizabeth, who married a Findley. She was disowned by her family for this relationship. I know of two brothers: Robert who eventually came to the U.S. and married Mary Cartwright; and John, who may have gone to England. Another sister, Sarah or Jane, came to the U.S. and married James Sloan, whose son, also James married Elizabeth's daughter Isabella Findley. There were probably other siblings, but I am not sure of their names. I believe that this family lived on a large estate, because the daughter Elizabeth according to family lore, was disowned because she fell in love with the stable boy.
