I am looking for information on my mother who was born in Govan, Glasgow on January 31, 1924 whose mother was Jane Green or Stewart and whose father was Ebenezer Stewart, Seaman. Ebenezer and Jane were married in July, 1914. The story we have been told was that our mother, Joan McInnes Stewart was the fourth child born to Jane and Ebenezer and that she was put up for adoption 6 months later. The certificate of baptism that we have for our mother states that her baptismal name was Joan Louisa McInnes Lynch. Our mother married John Alexander Vigerut on August 6th, 1945 and came to Canada in 1946. They settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Shortly after all of my mother's papers state that she changed her name from Louise Lynch to Louise Vigerut.

I am looking for information about, and descendants of, John and Isabella Savage (nee Brown) who lived in Govan. John was my great Grandfather, born 1871 in St Quivox or Ayr and Isabella was born 1875 in Govan. John was a Bost clicker (any ideas?) but in later life was a massuer and singer. He won a scolarship to train at La Scala but died before he could go. I know very little about them and would love to know more. This is what I do know. They had 6 surviving children. One girl died in infancy - I do not know her name or when she was born. The oldest, Hugh, was born 1898. I believe he emigrated to Australia at some stage and welded on the Sydney harbour bridge. Next William, b 1903, then Alexander b 1905, then David b1910. Isabel was born 1913 and married William Gomersall from Bradford in 1937. Last George b1916/7 who had a successful military career and the story is he became city assessor for Glasgow. He died 1965 - possibly a suicide. I believ he married an Italian lady. If anyone knows anything about this family, or is descended from them, please get in touch
