I am searching for more info about William Hunter who lived and had several children in Gorbals, North Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland. We have found the baptism records of his children there, Ann, William (died at 3 yrs old 1803-6, William Jr 1806, and James b. 1808 (who immigrated to Ontario, Canada abt. 1818 (possibly York, Ontario), later had a son Thomas of Cooper's Falls and Ragged Rapids, Ontario, whose son, Jesse Eugene Hunter Sr. is my grandfather, b.1889 Cooper's Falls, Ontario and d. 1965 in Pima, AZ, USA. I think William's wife, with him in Gorbals, was Mary Ann? Marion? Collin,Collins,Collings? They may have come to Scotland from Ireland--family history is vague...the majority of Jesse's children lived in Tucson, AZ, USA and a son,Jesse Eugene Hunter Jr., his wife & 2 children lived in Reno, NV, USA.

Any information please re: Roger(s) Willens who married Mary Boag (or Bogue) in Gorbals on 15.12.1850. Both were from England and, although their son William was born in Lanark, I can't tell how long they stayed for. William and his mother (don't know about Roger(s) ) moved to Melbourne Australia.

My great-great grandfather Joseph McGibben (born circa 1821, place unknown)married Martha Copeland and gave birth to a son (amongst other children), Joseph in 1852 in Gorbals Parish, Lanarkshire. The family emigrated to Tasmania, Australia on the Vessel "Prompt" from Liverpool, arriving in Hobart Town on July 01, 1857. I am trying to find any information on my grandad Patrick James Boyle,his parents were Rose Montford (maiden name) and Francis Boyle.Patrick was born in 1908 in Glasgow (not sure if Gorbals) he was in the Pioneer core and married Mary Ann Kilkie at St Francis church Gorbals in 1935,he became a butchers assistent and died at 10 1/2 Eglinton St Gorbals in 1946.I am the son of his eldest son,Thomas John Kilkie born 25 June 1933 at 133 Balornock rd Glasgow,at that time they lived at 4 Roukenburn St.Any info or a photo,living relatives that want to get intouch would be great,Tom.

My grandfather Alexander Hughes was last seen in 1934, when his 23 year old wife Mary Graham Kane died. At this point they stayed in Dalmarnock Road, Bridgeton Glasgow. I think he may then have joined the |Merchan Navy - not sure. I think he may have remarried and I am keen to know any information about his subsequent family.

Alexander Thomson was a professor of theology at the University of Edinburgh; I have not yet established where he was born, and that is part of my purpose for posting. He married Emma Jane East (b 1819, Birmingham) and they had 5 children: Emma Morell Mackenzie Thomson b 1844, William Alexander East Thomson 1845, Emily Gertrude Thomson 1845, Ann Baldwin Thomson 1848-1932 (my great grandmother), and Helen L (Nellie) Thomson. Ann and Nellie are shown as being born in Gorbals, Lanark. At the time of the 1881 census, he was living in Chorlton on Medlock, Lancashire. I would like any information at all on Alexander and his son William. Emma, Emily, and Nellie had no children--Ann was the only sister who did, and she died young. Any descendants of William out there?
